"Contagion"... a frightening futur

 The movie "Contagion"  deals with a deadly virus, called Meningoencephalitis Virus One (MEV-1), killing people in just a few days causing terrible pain. The epidemics spreads very quickly, the world medical community tries to find a cure and to control the panic which spreads even faster than the virus. The origin and symptoms of the virus are based on the Nipah virus. In humans, the Nipah virus causes fever, headache and drowsiness. Furthermore, infected patients may also have many other symptoms like cough, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, weakness, problems with swallowing and blurred vision. Finally, it will cause encephalitis.

Today, there is no definitive treatment for Nipah encephalatis...

The movie reminds us that human life is fragile and a lot of viruses could cause serious outbreaks. You may remember that in 2003, there  331 were deaths by H5N1 virus. Recently, Dutch scientists have mutated the H5N1 virus and created a hightly contagious virus.  Paul Keim, president of the agency of American biosafety (NSABB) said : "I know nothing more frightening than this virus".

Gattaca is indeed on our program for the next movie, it's one the first movie about genetic and its possible consequence (and some events nowadays remind us Gattaca). But unfortunately we are all running out of time

What are the next movies you want to analyse? Gattacca? or a horror movie for example with zombies, may be a scientist analyse about the reality of them could be interesting :)
